Pre required things:

1. Rooted Android Device
2. File Explorer with root permissions.
3. Hound app - HERE

Instructions:

1. First thing you need to do is download and install the .apk file for hound if you live outside USA as it is currently available only on the US play store.

2. After you have Installed the application go ahead open it,
reach the activation screen and minimize the application.

3. Now go to settings and force close the app, so that you can edit it's data.

4. Run any file explorer that has root permissions enabled (I prefer ES file explorer).

5. Go to the following directory:
/data/data/com.hound.android.app/shared.prefs

6. Open the file com.hound.android.app_preferences.xml file in any text editor.

7. Make the following changes:

Replace "show_splash_screen" with "invitation_complete"
and
replace "false" with "true".

If you wish you can go back and recheck if the changes are still there...

Now all you have to do is run the application and it should get you right past the invitation screen to the search UI...

That's it! Enjoy the goodness of Hound outside US without any invitation.
(Moto G 2014) - Part 1 (Benchmarks)Hey guys, this is Dasaviour and as the name suggest this is the first part of the series

In this first part I'm going to do a benchmark test which consists of 3 benchmark tests on each Custom Rom and then I'll compare the scores. I know Benchmarking isn't the only way to determine how good a Rom is...

So I'll be conducting more tests in the coming parts...

To make it simple....
There are multiple stages, 10 Roms, elimination on each stage, until we reach the best custom rom
First stage Benchmarking...

>>First benchmarking application is Antutu benchmark

It runs various tests itself

First up is UX i.e. User experience: It is divided into two sub categories Multi tasking and runtime,
multi tasking is pretty obvious and the runtime score represents how well android's dalvik/ART runtime runs applications.

Then Comes RAM: It tests how fast your Random Access Memory is operating, incorporating all the read and write speeds that the RAM can handle.

After that is the CPU: In simple terms a faster CPU can run apps faster and can also handle applications or games that are more demanding... This test just checks how fast the CPU performs.

A major important test after CPU performance is the GPU: Graphics Processing Unit handles accelerated graphics. It's major role is when you play games, it renders both 3d and 2d graphics. this basically tests how good the GPU is in handling all sorts of graphics operations, be it simple transition animations or 3D graphics of any high end game.

Last but not the least comes IO: I/O stands for Input/Output which reflects the device's internal storage speeds. Everything is stored on the Internal storage so this test checks how fast can your device Read and Write data from and into the internal memory...

>>Second application that we are using for benchmarks is Linpack

It tests how fast the device is in performing calculations.
This test has a major dependency on the Software as compared to hardware because it's all about the Java code...

>>And the third application we are using here is Quadrant Standard benchmark

It's similar to Antutu benchmark,
It also runs similar tests in it's own way...
The 21 tests cover all major parts - Processing, memory management, input/output, 2D Graphics and 3D Graphics.

Now this is the final score board of all custom roms, you can check individual scores.

Let's move on to the rankings, I gave the roms rankings based on there respective scores and summed up the final ranks..

Last two roms are eliminated in this test so the next test will be conducted with the Top 8 Roms...

That will be multi tasking and loading times... So that will be all for this post please leave suggestions so that I can improve in the coming parts of this series...

Till then take care and I'll see you guys in the next one...
